Washington County Commission on Aging (WCCOA) to Hold Legacy Gala

The Washington County Commission on Aging's 2024 Legacy Gala adopts the theme "Help Us Flourish."

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 20th, from 6 to 9 p.m., as the Gala unfolds at Saint James School in Hagerstown. This elegant affair, featuring live music, an open bar, dinner, and a silent auction, welcomes guests to dress in black tie attire, though it's optional.

Leading the evening's festivities is none other than Hagerstown's beloved radio personality, Lou Scally, who will serve as the master of ceremonies.

The mission of the Legacy Gala is clear: to secure vital financial support for WCCOA's ongoing efforts to assist a rapidly growing and vulnerable demographic. According to Amy Olack, CEO of WCCOA, by 2040, one in five Americans will be aged 65 or older.

"We are serving the fastest-growing segment of the population and some of the most vulnerable," stated Olack. "It's a matter of supply and demand, and our current funding streams are not keeping pace with the growing number of seniors who need our services."

WCCOA offers a comprehensive range of social service programs, from Elder Abuse Advocacy to Meals on Wheels, Medicare Counseling, and Senior Center engagements, among others. In 2023 alone, WCCOA served over 11,000 Washington County residents, including seniors, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities, regardless of age.

Tickets for this essential fundraiser are available for $175 per person or $1,000 to reserve a table for six. Additionally, sponsorships are being sought.

For tickets or further information, please contact Roxann at the WCCOA at 301-790-0275 ext. 224.

Washington County Commission on Aging, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, ensuring that all contributions are tax-deductible.
