Under auspices of the RSVP & the COA Volunteer Network the Friendly Visitation Program places volunteers in service to area elderly, ill and those confined to their homes. A Friendly Visitor will go into the home of a client on a weekly basis to provide companionship and a "change of pace" for the needy individual. Visits generally last from one to two hours. Volunteers do not transport clients to appointments, shopping, etc., nor do they cook, monitor medication, write checks or provide any type of personal care. This service is intended solely to provide short-term companionship during which time the client and volunteer may chat, play cards, write letters, etc. Clients or a family representative are required to sign and retain a copy of an In-Home Agreement provided by the RSVP Office and designation of an emergency contact is mandatory.
