The RSVP Volunteer Program serves as a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities in Washington County. The program is designed to recruit and place individuals 55 years of age and older in volunteer service. Placements are designed to address and meet critical needs of the community. Volunteers serve in such areas as law enforcement, literacy and tutoring, health clinics, long term care facilities, hospitals, theaters and museums, libraries, historic sites, surplus food and clothing programs, housing construction and home retrofitting.
RSVP Volunteers are eligible for reimbursement of travel and meal expenses and are covered by several types of insurance in effect during the course of their volunteer activities.
RSVP currently boasts 450 senior volunteers who assist at over 70 facilities in the county, donating nearly 65,000 hours of service yearly.
