How You Can Get Help to Stay in the Community if You Need Nursing Home Level Care

If your medical condition requires that you be in a nursing home, you may be able to get help and have a plan of services so you can stay at home.

In Order to Have Medicaid Pay for Services, You Must:

  • Be 50 years or older
  • Have less than $1,809 per month income (individual, not couple)
  • Have less than $2,000 in cash assets and life insurance (individual, not couple)
  • Need nursing home level of care

You can choose to go to an assisted living home where they will help you with daily activities like bathing, dressing and eating.

You can choose to remain at home where you get many services including

  • help in getting the Medicaid Waiver
  • help with personal care
  • family training and counseling
  • meals and nutrition
  • adult day care and respite care and other items such as wheel chairs, transportation for doctor appointments, modifications to your home, etc.
  • obtaining assistive devises
