The Commission on Aging contracts with the Frederick Legal Aid Bureau, Inc. to provide legal services to the seniors of Washington County. An Attorney or paralegal is on site the second and fourth Thursday of the month for approximately four hours. Appointments may be scheduled through a toll-free number, 1-800-679-8813, and the assigned attorney will be on site as necessary. The types of legal representation provided most often involve: Public Benefits, Housing, Consumer, Domestic, Employment Law and Elder Law issues. Information regarding Powers of Attorney, simple wills and advanced directives is also offered. Referrals to the Sixty Plus Program are provided by Legal Aid Bureau. Legal Aid Bureau, Inc. also offers free legal services to seniors age 60 or older without regard to income.
