The Commission on Aging serves as Guardian of the Person for individuals in Washington County that are aged sixty five (65) and over. These individuals must be declared by the Circuit Court of Washington County to be incapable of making their own decisions concerning their health care, food, shelter and clothing. Due to disabilities and irreversible acute illness, they are unable to manage their affairs effectively and are at high risk of self-neglect and life threatening situations. Guardians are required to determine and seek appropriate living arrangements, oversee provision of services and/or consent to medical treatment for persons under their guardianship.

For additional information, contact Charlene K. Lloyd, RG Guardianship Coordinator/Care Manager, at 301-790-0275 ext. 215
