The Senior Center needs a Spanish instructor to teach Conversational Spanish at the Senior Center on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday mornings or afternoons. We need someone to teach a beginners conversational class and an intermediate conversational class, both of which would meet twice a week. Each class would be an hour long. The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) is a state agency that regulates the insurance industry in Maryland. We do not sell insurance or recommend any insurer or agent. The agency conducts outreach activities and endeavors to better educate the public regarding all types of insurance coverage, issues, etc. MIA provides unbiased information in easy to understand language to assist the general public when making insurance-related decisions.

Annual Maryland State Senior Idol Contest
The Contest was held on Wednesday, March 30, at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park MD. 16 Contestants, from eight counties, vocal talents were highlighted while raising funds for the Maryland food Bank. In previous years this event benefited Senior Centers that were impacted by natural Disasters. The contest was hosted by, Baltimore City Recreation and Parks Senior Division.
Sponsors: MASC (Maryland Association of Senior Centers, Baltimore County Department of Aging, Baltimore City Senior Center Directors and Managers, and Howard County Senior Center.
Judges: Russ Margo of Russ Margo and the Guyz Band, Entertainer/Musician for over 30 years.
Cathy Johnson - Locally Singer, Dancer, Comedienne, and Founding Director of ShowTime Singers in Ellicot City MD.
Norm Seifert – Vocal and Guitar Member of Russ Margo and The Guyz Band.
Winner- 2011 was Mr. Sterling Dorn, from Prince George’s County, singing “It’s not unusual”.
Runner Up-2011 was Mallory Anthony, from Baltimore County, singing “Getting to know you”
Our Local Contestants: Edward Harne sang “Will the Circle be Unbroken”and Rebecca Mills sang “From Heavens Point Of View”. They did a great job of Representing Washington County. They both sang with conviction, and power, as their songs told their stories. Judges and the Audience cheered them on, yet, competition was fierce.
